2013 Australian Masters Games
Geelong has once again been selected as the host city for the Australian Masters Games. Running from the 5th of October until the 12th his huge event will see competitors from all over Australia and even from overseas competing in a wide array of sports in venues all over our region.
A, estimated 8000 people are expected to compete in one of over fifty diverse sports being played during the week of events, from archery to athletics, basketball to baseball, shooting to equestrian, cricket to AFL football.
The Masters Games is open to people 30 and over and competition is open to people from all walks of life and different skill levels.
The games will see a huge entertainment program to complement the sporting events. The opening ceremony held on the 5th of October will take place at Kardinia Park and see some of Australia’s most legendary performers including Mental As Anything and James Reyne, while the closing ceremony will see a great performance from Pseudo Echo. Many of the local pubs and entertainment complexes are also planning special events including special functions at Lamby’s, the Edge and The Pier.
The event is being supported by around 2000 local volunteers who will help make this event an amazing week of fun and help show Geelong is home to some of the country’s best ran events.
