2013 Ford Rainforest Ride

The breathtaking Otway ranges will host the 2013 Ford Rainforest Ride on the 24th of February 2013.

This mass participation road cycling event and not a race. There are three rides all starting from Apollo Bay and travelling through some of our region’s most magical scenery, challenging hills, thrilling decents and spectacular roads.

The ride will consist of three separate rides, the longest being a 140 kilometre ride called the Rainforest Circuit. This spectacular ride starts and finishes at Apollo Bay and takes in one of the most scenic routes Australia has to offer. The loop takes in Beech Forest, Lvaers Hill and Glenaire

This course also has two optional loops that takes in the and the magnificient Cape Otway Light House and Otway Fly, that riders can visit for free on the day.

The 70 kilometre ride, called the Lighthouse Discovery Ride leaves from Apollo Bay and travels to the Cape Otway Lighthouse through some spectacular and challenging terain. The ride passes through Marengo, Maits Rest and to the tip of Cape Otway before returning back to Apollo Bay.

There is also a 23 Kilometre route called the Waterfall Explorer, this ride is designed for families and is a 11.5 kilometre ride to Marriners Falls and back. The route is is fairly flat and offers some picturesque and beautiful scenery along the way.

The Ford Rainforest Ride is an event for Give where You Live, formerly known as United Way Geelong, a charity that does so much for the community in the Geelong region. Give Where You Live raise vital funds to support those experiencing hardship in our community. It is hoped this day will raise over $10,000.
