2013 Geelong Cup

It’s time to start thinking about fashion and get ready for the biggest social day on the Geelong region’s calendar the 2013 Geelong Cup.

This year the 2400 metre Group 3 Thoroughbred race will be held on Wednesday the 23rd of October right in the middle of Victoria’s spring racing calendar. The day is a public holiday for much of the Geelong region.

Last year Gatewood took out the golden trophy and several over the past few years including Irish, Media Puzzle, Americain and Dunaden have gone on to win the prestigious Melbourne Cup two weeks later, will it happen again or will there be another dead heat, the race has seen three of them since the first race in 1872.

All the action doesn’t only happen on the track, one of the traditional highlights of Geelong Cup is the fashions of the field that always attract a lot of interest with ladies and gentlemen attired in their most exquisite dress.

Many hang out in the luxurious Marquees dining on gourmet foods and enjoying a few ice cold beers and the traditional champers.
