2013 Kana Festival at Colac

Saturday the 16th of March will once again see Colac celebrate the Kana Festival when the annual event returns for the 56th year in what promises to be a huge day of family fun.

Each year the the Colac Kana Festival has a special theme, over the past few years ‘A Bugs Life’ and “Australiana’ have been fantastic themes and this year the organisers have chose “Story Time – Dream Time’. This theme will explore favorite story books and cultural stories that have had such an impact on our folklore and life. Expect to see plenty of colour and excitement as the parade travels down Murray Street towards Memorial Park.

Many of the regions schools, clubs, organisations and businesses take part in the parade with exotic floats and colourful costumes making for a exciting atmosphere. The parade always features some magnificent rural machinery and an amazing display from our emergency services much to the delight of the hundreds who line the streets to watch.

Memorial Park will once again be transformed into a monstrous festival, known as the Fair in the Square, with music, markets, entertainment and displays including a wonderful classic car show. The park will be full of family fun with so much to see and enjoy.

This year the Kana Festival also has some events on the Friday evening leading up to the huge day of fun on Saturday, as well as some events on the Sunday at Memorial Square- a great weekend of fun.
