2013 Lara Food & Wine Festival
The Lara Food and Wine Festival returns to the historic Pirra Homestead in Lara on Sunday the 24th of March 2013 for another great year.
The day will see over eighty gourmet food and wine producers offering some of their tastiest product to the estimated fourteen thousand people who are expected to attend what has become the Geelong region’s premier gastronomic event.
Not only is the day a great day for food lovers it is a huge family day with something for the whole family. There will be non stop entertainment with some of the region’s best performers and a great kids area where the little ones can enjoy farm animals and special entertainers.
The day will see cooking demonstrations, cook offs, an amazing array of quality food and wine, and some well known celebrity guests.
Last year cravat wearing MasterChef judge Matt Preston was a guest of the festival and he is back for another year and will judge the Ultimate Chef Challenge and is sure to delight the crowd as he did last year with his witty fun and banter.
The Ultimate Chef Challenge will see some of the Geelong region’s finest chefs battle it out including Leonie Mills from Jack and Jills, Matt Dempsey from Gladioli at Inverleigh, David Hall from Jack Rabbit Vineyard at Bellarine, Lyndon Betts from Queenscliff’s Vue Grand and Daniel Brehaund, from Black Bull Tapas who won the People’s choice award at the recent Golden Plate Awards.
Celebrity chef Rosa Mitchell will also be at this years festival and she will be giving visitors a sneak peek at her new cook book title Rosa’s Farm.
