2013 Wallington Strawberry Fair
Sunday the 3rd of March will see the 2013 Wallington Strawberry Fair return to the Wallington Primary School for another fantastic year.
This event held in the heart of the Bellarine Peninsula is well regarded as one of our region’s best country fairs and has been an annual event for more than thirty years, making it also one of the Bellarine’s longest running. This huge family event celebrates Wallington’s most delicious produce, the strawberry.
Wallington has been the premier fruit producer in the region for well over one hundred and thirty years with the strawberry industry starting around 1880.
The Strawberry Fair is held at the Wallington Primary School, found on the Wallington Road linking the Queenscliff Road with Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads, only about twenty minutes drive from the centre of Geelong.
The fair not only features some of the most delicious strawberries, it features a large marketplace with lots of arts and crafts, gourmet foods and some of the Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong region’s best produce, plants and wine.
There will be several food stalls including gourmet BBQ, a range of international cuisine and lets not forget the juiciest strawberries. Several hundred punnets of strawberries will be transformed into the most delicious treats including strawberries with pancakes, pavlova, strawberries and cream, smoothies, or chocolate dipped.
The large football field will be transformed into a giant carnival complete with fairground rides, jumping castles, pony rides and other fun attractions. The day will see a wealth of great entertainment including some of the best local bands, some great buskers and an array of roaming entertainment .
The fair starts at 10:00 AM and concludes at 4:00PM Sunday March 3rd 2013.
