2014 Great Australian Beer Festival – Geelong
The second annual The Great Australian Beer Festival comes to Geelong Racecourse in Breakwater on Saturday the 1st of February in what promises to be a fantastic day of craft beer and cider.
Over the past few years craft beers have taken Australia by storm and even the Geelong region has got in on the act with great beers from breweries like Prickly Moses, Bellarine Brewing, Forest Brewing, Odyssey Brewery, Southern Bay Brew Co and our latest addition Little Creatures all brewing magnificent beers.
As well as our great local brewers there will be dozens of other fine brewers from across our country with an estimated 150 craft beers and ciders will be available for the festival, with some even specially brewed for the event.
The day has so much more than brilliant beers and ciders, there is a full calendar of entertainment including Brooke Addamo better known s Owl Eyes, Tigertown, Soul sensation Kylie Auldist and the Glenroy Allstars just to name a few.
If last year was anything to go by the day is sensational with the racecourse grass and forecourts turning into a festive celebration of music beer and great food. There was plenty of sun and plenty of shade, plus getting tasty food and even tastier drinks were a breeze.
The event also is a great place to talk to some of the masters in Australian brewing, learn some of the finer tips in a range of seminars and even checking out the latest gadgets and trends in home brewing.
For those coming from out of town, the train is the best option, there are special buses to the festival leaving the Geelong Station about every half an hour from 10:30 AM and returning back until 7:30 PM and the South Geelong Station every 15 minutes for a small fee.
