2014 Mustang & Shelby Nationals
The iconic Ford Mustang is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary in April of 2015 and there’s no better place to celebrate than in Geelong. Geelong has been chosen as the host city for the 2014 Mustang and Shelby Nationals.
The event takes place over the Easter Weekend from the 18th to the 20th of April. Mustang entrants will have a once in a lifetime chance to visit the top secret Ford Proving Ground’s hidden on the outskirts of Geelong before hitting the city for a huge weekend of fun.
Sunday will see a mammoth show and shine at Deakin University’s Waterfront Carpark overlooking Corio Bay where hundreds of Mustangs and Shelby’s representing the five decades of the vehicle will be on display. Cars are expected from all corners of Australia in what will be a fantastic celebration of this iconic brand that is about to be relaunched onto the Australian market by Ford in a brand new generation the vehicle that is known as the pony car.
The show and shine is open to the public for a small charge with gates opening at 10:00 AM and the day running through to a bit after 3:00 PM. This is expected to be the biggest turn out of Ford vehicles in Geelong since Ford Australia celebrated its 75th anniversary back in 2001. The Deakin Carpark is on the corner of Western Beach road and Gheringhap Street and within easy walking distance to the railway station, city and rest of waterfront precinct.
