2014 Nightjar in Geelong
Over recent years Geelong’s Johnstone Park is accustom to a summer market. In recent years Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market has ran an event in January, but this year a few weeks later in February it is an entirely new format, with new organisers and a interesting concept. The Nightjar Festival promises to be something really new and different for Geelong and is sure to attract a huge crowd.
The Nightjar has been running on Thursday nights in Torquay for several years and has been extremely successful, now its Geelong’s turn. The Nightjar comes to Geelong’s Johnstone Park for the four fantastic Friday nights in February.
The Nightjar is a market, a artist festival, food and drink festival and a unique night of fun for the whole family, all among the lush lawns and shady palm trees of the gorgeous Johnstone Park.
The festival will be a treat for the foodie with a whole range of international flavours and some of our region’s best beer and wine including delicious offerings from Otway Estate and Prickly Moses.
Spread throughout the park there will be dozens of market stalls many selling unique crafts, with a sustainable twist . Here you are sure to find some creative and innovative items that you will find now where else. In many cases the artists or the creators run the store so you can learn a little about the items on display.
There is an amazing calendar of artist performing at the festivals both on stage and roaming thorough-out the gardens. The entertainment will range from the familiar to the weird and unusual with some very interesting buskers and emerging acts performing.
The Nightjar runs from 4:00 PM to 10:00 every Friday night in February.
