2014 Toast to the Coast
Geelong’s wine regions celebrate the Toast to the Coast festival over the Melbourne Cup Weekend of November 1st and 2nd 2014 in what will be a wonderful weekend of cheer.
This year marks the 13th annual Toast to the Coast and every year the festival goes from strength to strength taking in the best wineries on the Bellarine, the Surfcoast and around the rolling hills of the Moorabool Valley.
Over the past few decades the Geelong region has built a reputation for quality wines. Our soil and climate help make our wines so special. We have three distinct micro climates and our soils vary from rich volcanic soils, to more harsher and sandy soils similar to that of the greatest wine growing regions in the world, with fresh sea breezes and long summer days.
Some of our most popular varieties of grape include Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and the rich reds like Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
There are over 25 wineries taking part in the festival and to eliminate the need for a vehicle you can purchase tickets to jump onboard the Toast to the Coast shuttle buses that will circle wineries. There are three bus routes one for each sub region, the Bellarine, Surfcoast and Moorabool Valley. All buses depart the Geelong railway station.
Many of the wineries will feature entertainment and activities including master classes, kids activities, music and even dance. Gourmet local food will be available at most venues and there will be plenty of places to kick back and relax over a delicious Geelong region wine.
Tickets include complementary wine tasting across the more than 20 wineries, a commemorative souvenir glass. For ticketing information including more information on the Bus routes visit the Toast to the Coast’s official website at www.winegeelong.com.au
