Bethany Film Festival – The Gilded Cage
Tuesday 25th of March
This is the first film in the 2014 series of Bethany Arthouse Film Festival and will screen in the Playhouse Theatre at GPAC. The film in French with English subtitles was written and directed by Ruben Alves. The feel good comedy won the prestigious People’s Choice award for best film at the 2013 European Film Awards and stars Rita Blanco and Joaquim de Aleida. Strasse Bar Cinema under the Stars

The Strasse Bar at the Barking Dog in Pakington Street is hosting a terrific night of cinema where guest will be treated to a luxury night of entertainment complete with pop corn and all the trimmings. The films being shown on the big screen will be chosen from a poll the Strasse Bar is running on their Facebook page www.facebook.com/food.drink.banter, results will be announced in the week leading up to the great night.
Geelong East Primary – Twilight Fete

The Geelong East Primary School in Boundary Road will be the place to be on the 28th of March when the school grounds come to life with a fantastic twilight fair. This family event will have lots of fun for the kids including carnival rides, face painting and other great activities. There will be heaps of great food to try plus stall selling delicious cakes, books and brick a brack. Supercats Basektball

The McDonald’s Geelong Supercats take on the Dandenong Rangers in the Men’s and Women’s clash. The first home game of the 2014 season is sure to be a spectacle, with a newly branded show court and the McDonald’s Geelong Supercats hitting the floor for the first time in their uniform. All patrons are encouraged to be in RED or wear club merchandise as we create the RED ARMY. The women’s game kicks of at 6:00 PM and the men at 8:00 PM – Go Supercats!
Monster Trucks

The monster trucks are coming to the Geelong Showgrounds in a spectacular evening of entertainment. See these mighty trucks crush cars and do some incredible stunts. Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows

Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows, one of Australia legendary music acts is playing the Anglesea Golf Club on Saturday night in what is sure to be a great show. Joe has been playing Australia for around forty years, and formed the Black Sorrows in 1983 after a long stint with the Falcons. Some of his huge hits include Chained to the Wheel, Taxi Mary, Shape im in and Hold onto Me.
2014 Mano Carnivale

Manifold Primary School will host the annual Mano Carnivale on the 29th March from 11:00 AM at their school grounds on the corner of Strachan Avenue and Narmbool Streets Manifold Heights. This event is one of the Geelong region’s best school fairs with plenty of fun for all. There will be plenty of rides and entertainment for the young including a carnival side show alley. Some great entertainment including – wait for it…a Katy Perry Tribute Show and the Purrembeetles. The day will feature auctions, markets, raffles and all the fun you expect from a great fun fair. Blokes Day Out

This day is all about the man in our lives, his interests and most importantly his well being. This free event on the lawns of Eastern Beach will feature a whole range of community groups celebrating the man. There will be health experts, clubs and organisations and plenty of activities and entertainment for the whole family. WestFest

The lovely West Park on the corner of Autumn and Pakington Streets in West Geelong will hos a free community arts festival called WestFest. This event is not only a family friendly event it will also be pet friendly so there are sure to be plenty of fury four legged friends. The festival will feature lots of tasty local food, market stalls and some great activities for all. Walkies for Life

The Geelong Animal Welfare Society is holding a walk to support pet adoption in Eastern Park> Get there by 9:30 AM for registration and be ready to walk at 10:30AM. All pets must be on a leash and don’t forget the doggie doo bag. The event is proudly supported by Pet Stock Assist a foundation established to support charities that provide assistance for abused, neglected and abandoned animals and to help improve the life of people with disadvantages and disabilities with companion animals. 100% of the proceeds raised in this event go to helping animals. Plant Sale

The friends of the Geelong Botanical Gardens are holding their popular plant sale this weekend between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Located at the rear of the gardens in Eastern Park expect so see some fantastic plants, many of which are rare and very collectible. Prices are more than reasonable and moneys raised go into helping keep this historic Geelong attraction in top condition. Its a great chance to give your garden a new look and enjoy a day out browsing around the beautiful setting of the gardens.
