Falls Festival
Once again the hills behind the seaside resort town of Lorne will be ringing with the sounds of some great music when the Falls Festival returns this New Year’s. This year’s line up is one of the biggest on record with names like Empire of the Sun, The Presets, Alison Wonderland, Salt n Pepa, Spiderbait and Bluejuice just some of the names performing over the four days.

Soccer Saudi Arabia vs Bahrain
In a lead up to the Asian Cup Simonds Stadium in Kardinia Park is hosting a soccer friendly between two of the Middle East’s best sides, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The evening match kicks off at 7:00 PM and best of all its free.

Books, Fairybread and Flicks
Books, Fairybread and Flicks is the first ever event of the popular Midsumma Festival held in Geelong. This year The Courthouse Arts is holding this special afternoon of gay friendly fun addressing many of the issues that face rainbow families. The event is specially tailore3d for Childeren of all ages. Later in the day the Courthouse will alo showcase a marathon of iconic queer films- a great way to end 2014

Dawnbuster Fun Run 2014
Give Where You Live are hosting a great fun run on the last day of the year. The race starts at the Carousel on Geelong’s waterfront at 7:00 AM and takes in 5 kilometres around the waterfront precinct. For more information visit www.givewhereyoulive.com.au

New Year’s Eve Fireworks
See out 2014 and welcome in 2015 at the Central Geelong New Year’s Eve Fireworks spectacular over Corio Bay. There will be two shows, one at 9:00 PM and another as the hands strike midnight. Steampacket Gardens will be the best vantage point, so pack a rug and picnic and make an evening of it. Happy New Year!

Bluestone Blues Festival
Held on the Murgheboluc Public Reserve on the Hamilton Highway the Bluestone Festival is one of the region’s favourite New Year’s events. This year the line-up is massive with Geoff Achison Souldiggers, Blue Eye Cry, JJ & Bluedogs, Greg Dodd and the Hoodoo Men only a few of the great names. NightJar Festival
The NightJar Festival is back for 2015 returning to the Spring Creek Reserve in Torquay on Thursday night. between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The Nightjar is part market, part international food expo and part independent artists festival. The market takes place every Thursday in January before moving to Geelong’s Johnstone Park for the Friday’s in February.

Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th January 2015
Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic
Geelong has a huge line up of cycling events this summer and to kick things of the Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic will push some of the best cyclists to their limits around the Geelong region. More than 200 cyclists are expected to compete around Richie Boulevard on the Friday, Eastern Park on Saturday and Portarlington on the Sunday before heading to Williamstown on the Monday.

Victory vs Perth Glory
Soccer is making a return to Geelong’s Simonds Stadium with Melbourne Victory taking on Perth Glory in an evening match starting at 7:40 PM. This game is part of round 13 in the season and will be a tough battle for both sides.

Drysdale Classic Car & Bike Show
The Autopro Classic Car and Bike Show returns to the slopes of the Drysdale Recreation reserve in what has become one of the region’s biggest car displays. This family event features hundreds of great cars, from beautifully restored vintage vehicles, the muscles cars of the 60’s and 70’s up to the latest new and modified vehicles. The day begins at 9:00 AM and runs through until 4:00 PM
