2015 Motor City Music Festival
The fabulous Motor City Music Festival returns to the Geelong Showgrounds for 2015 after a hugely successful inaugural festival in 2014. Spanning the Labour Day weekend in March the three day festival has a monstrous line-up and caters for a wide range of musical tastes.
The weekend will see over 40 acts performing on five stages across the showgrounds with four of them being undercover and the huge outdoor stage taking in the magnificent Southern Cross Windmill as an iconic background.
The opening night, Friday the 6th of March will see a huge night of rock and roots with legendary Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows headlining the evening. The reformed Painters and Dockers also perform on Saturday along with Broderick Smith, Electric Mary and Safari Motel.
Saturday’s theme is blues and tributes and the performances include shows by local blues artist Chris Willson, Thunder Road a Bruce Springsteen tribute act, Credence Clearwater Recycled and the INXS tribute band Inxsive. There will also be a Fleetwood Mac, Meatloaf, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Johnny Cash, June Cater tribute performances.
Sunday is a huge family day with what will be one of the biggest line-ups of country music ever to play in Geelong and an array of the finest tribute bands the country has to offer. This day will see free entry for kids and there will be a stage dedicated to kid’s entertainment including Dan the Magic Man and plenty of rides and attractions for them to enjoy.
The reformed 80’s pop sensation the Eurogliders and country superstar James Blundell will be two of the Sunday highlights, along with JR Reyne, The Glitter Gang and local artists Michael Strangel and Jason Singh.
The festival will have a great atmosphere with a craft beer hall, cider bars and some amazing food trucks offering gourmet street food. Find your deckchairs, dust of your rug and come to the Geelong Showground’s this Labour Day weekend for a fantastic weekend of music, food and fun.
