2016 Motor City Music Festival
The Geelong Showgrounds will host the 2016 Motor City Music Festival over the Labour Day Weekend of March 11th – 13th.
This year the festival returns with a fantastic lineup spread over three days featuring Rock, Blues and Roots, Tributes and one of Australia’s biggest days of Country Music.
Friday evening the festival kicks off with a huge night of blues and roots spread across four stages.
The main Southern Cross outdoor stage will feature Wild Violet, Miss Quincy, Sister Doll and the Glitter Gang. While the more intermit indoor stages will feature some great acts including Jimi Hocking’s Blues Machine, Chris Wilson, Cleveland Blues, Bondi Cigars and Samy Owen’s Blues Band.
Saturday will see the Southern Cross Stage be taken over by some of Australia’s best tribute bands. The shows include an Amy Winehouse tribute, Acting Baby the U2 tribute Show, Gold Chisel pumping out some favourite Cold Chisel tracks, Thunderstruck playing AC/DC and the amazing Kissroyer covering some classic Kiss.
Indoors there are plenty of blues, roots and rock to catch including Twenty, Matt Borg Trio and Catfish Voodoo, to name only a few.
Sunday is a huge family day, and country music is the flavour of the day. The Brook Chivell Band, Christie Lamb, the Wolfe Brothers, Amber and Jared Porter are a taste of nearly 30 performances slated in for Sunday followed by a spectacular fireworks display around 8:45.
During the weekend there will plenty of great food, bars and fun or all including some pretty fun carnival rides that are free on Sunday and even some wonderful classic vehicles on display.
