2017 Lara Food & Wine Festival
The fabulous Lara Food & Wine Festival returns to the lush lawns of Pirra Homestead for 2017 on Sunday the 26th of March.
This community ran festival is one of our region’s best culinary events attracting thousands of visitors for a day of food, local beers and wines, great entertainment, cooking demonstrations and fun. The festival dating back to 2009 celebrates the amazing food, wine, beers and cooking skills our region has to offer.
This year’s event looks like bigger and better than ever with a fantastic program including an appearance from TV’s Ready Steady Cook celebrity chef Janelle Bloom being among the big names appearing at the event along side some of the Geelong region’s finest chefs and cooks.
Gates open at 10:00 AM and the event runs through until 4:00 PM with Reed Street Band, Rob Anderson and the Run performing throughout the day.
Kids will have a ball with a huge kids area complete with Dan the Magic Man, face painting from the Party Girl, kids cooking, colouring and even a visit from Half Cat from the Geelong Football Club. While the kids are having fun there’s plenty of opportunity to kick back on a picnic rug and enjoy some tasty treats, local beers and wines and great sounds.
A visit to the cooking stage is another must, see some of our best chefs battle it out in gourmet competitions. Learn all about the tricks of the trade and see the great Thermomix demonstration or learn the secrets of making cider from the expects at Flying Brick.
Be sure to visit check out the incredible interior of the Pirra Homestead that has been painstakingly restored by the Bisinella group and see the art and photography exhibitions.
The event has plenty of free parking and entry is only $5 with some a great holiday to Western Australia as a door prize for one lucky entrant.
