2017 Portarlington Mussel Festival
The 11th annual Portarlington Mussel Festival takes place on the Portarlington foreshore parkland on Saturday the 14th of January.
2016 saw crowds in the tens of thousands and this year with the activities planned and great weather another huge crowd is expected to enjoy a day of entertainment, family fun, food and the highlight of the event, the juicy mussels fresh from Port Phillip Bay.
Running between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM the Mussel Festival will see food vendors, around 200 market stalls with a wide range of interesting and unique items, kids amusement and lots of entertainment. There will be roaming performers and some wonderful acts performing on stages throughout the parkland.
The parkland offers plenty of shade making for the perfect place to kick back and enjoy the entertainment and festive atmosphere while sampling the delicious treats including fresh mussels and some of our best local beers and wines.
The festival will once again feature the popular cooking demonstrations where some of our region’s best chefs and cooks show you how to prepare amazing dishes featuring our local produce and of course mussels.
There’s plenty to see and do for the whole family including kids activities like face painting, jumping castles and animals. See the art and photo exhibition and admire the classic car display.
The recently rebuilt Portarlington Pier is the place to head to for boxes of the freshest and juiciest mussels. Be sure not to leave the festival without picking up a box full of these delicious creatures.
The magnificent tall ship the Enterprize will also be part of the 2017 Mussel Festival it will be based at the Portarlingon Jetty and offering rides on the bay.
