The 12th annual Portarlington Mussel Festival takes place in the beautiful Bellarine seaside township on Saturday the 13th of January and is expected to attract 20-30,000 people.
The festival is set amongst the beautiful parkland overlooking Port Philip Bay and will feature over 100 stalls with a mixture of market stalls and food and drink including stalls from some of our fantastic local breweries and wineries. The highlight of course will be the freshest and juiciest mussels harvested straight from the bay.
Over 10 ton of mussels are expected to be sold during the one day festival with many people buying them by the box load from the fishing vendors on the Portarlington Pier.
There is so much for the family to see and do at the Mussel Festival with animal farms, classic cars, art and craft shows and of course a full day of music and entertainment.
This year’s entertainment lineup includes the Eagles cover band, the Eagles Story who will perform on the Bendigo Bank stage from 1:45. Other well known acts include The Hip Cats, Blue Wax Trio, Sassy Soul Sisters and Chrissy Burrell just to name a few. The parkland will also play host to plenty of roaming entertainment including The Treble Chefs, Tim Tim, the comical Christof and everyone’s favourite magician Dazzling Dan the Magic Man.
Cooking demonstrations will run all day in the cooking tent including plenty of great tips on how to prepare delicious mussel dishes.
The festival runs between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM and is dog, BYO liquor and smoke free. Entry is $2.
