2013 ANZAC Day around the Geelong region
The Geelong, Bellarine and Surfcoast region has many moving tributes to commemorate ANZAC Day 2013. This year marks the 98th anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand troops landing at Gallipoli, a day that is etched in our history as one of the most sacred.
ANZAC day not only remembers the sacrifices of those who fought in the First World War nearly one hundred years ago but now is a symbol of remembrance for all who have served Australia and our close neighbour New Zealand in the conflicts and missions since. ANZAC Day is about courage, spirit, determination against all obstacles and most importantly mateship. The spirit of ANZAC is one of the foundations that form the makeup of our two countries and is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices and strength of those who have come before us.
