The Australian Street Rod Nationals came back to Geelong in what was an amazing display at the Geelong Showgrounds from the 22nd to the 25th of April 2011, with the event open to the public on Saturday and Friday.
The event was huge with hundreds of cars registered. There was trade stands, sausage sizzles, and fun for the kids plus plenty of music including legendary Australian artists Darryl Cotton and Wendy Stapleton performing. Jump n Jive is another of the huge musical acts performed some of music’s greatest hits all in character.
As well as the huge static display and show ‘n’ shine, one of the highlights of the event was the cruise around the show grounds which was a colourful and memorable. There also was a mini rod cruse where miniature hot rods cruised around their own special track for the kiddys.
There certainly was a few throbbing noises coming from the showgrounds during the dyno challenge, when the horsepower of these shiny metal monsters were put to the test.
As Sunday was Easter Sunday there was be a special Christian Rodders Chapel Service held at 11 am to celebrate one of the holiest days on the Christian calendar.
2011 was not the first year this premier event has been held in Geelong, the nationals were here in both 1999 and 2003 and brought an amazing array of colourful street rods to the city attracting thousands of people to the event.
