The Australian International Airshow returns to Avalon Airport on the weekend of March 1 to 3rd in what promises to be the biggest event in our region this year with some of the most incredible aircraft on display and in the air over our region.
This event is not only one of Victoria’s biggest major events it is a important industry event helping build our thriving aerospace and technology industries and attracting not only great awareness but major investment into our state from around the world.
While the trade days which include the Aerospace and Defense Exposition begin on the 26th of February the public get their chance to enter the site on Friday afternoon with an amazing afternoon and evening of flying which will conclude with the twilight Friday Night Alight performance that is not to be missed with fireworks, planes shooting pyrotechnics fighter jet mock battles and the incredible wall of fire that lights up the entire night sky.
The airshow will feature hundreds of static displays including civilian and private aircraft plus some of the worlds most incredible military aircraft. The RAAF will have some of their amazing equipment including the C17A Globemaster and F35A Joint Strike Fighter and EA 18G Growlers that can be seenc and in the sky. Many international air forces will also bring some of their special aircraft the show including New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, France and of the USA. The USA will be bringing a huge array of aircraft including the massive B52’s, the F22 Raptors and their KC135 Stratotanker.
As well as some of the latest in aviation taking to our skies, some pretty impressive historic aircraft will also be taking part in the three days of flying including mustangs, tiger moths, old jet fighters and a very special Hudson Bomber that is coming from the Temora Aviation Museum in New South Wales for the event.
This year’s show will feature a drone area where you can see some of the latest capabilities of these flying robots. The Australian Great War Association will be back putting on an incredible display depicting scenes from the Great War and there will be a Light Horse and Field Artillery Museum celebrating the animals of war, and several other incredible recreations of life and times in the battlefields.
Although there are good parking facilities at the event and not all of us have the luxury to fly in, VLine is the easiest option to get to this year’s airshow. Lara station will be served by extra trains and there will be shuttle buses right to the airshow gate. There are special airshow bus and rail tickets available.
