2019 Lara Food and Wine Festival

Geelong’s biggest culinary event the Lara Food and Wine Festival returns to the beautiful lawns of Pirra Homestead for 2019 on Sunday March the 24th.

Thousands are expected at this annual event that began in 2009 and features the best of our regions, food, wine and beer and a full day of entertainment, cooking demonstrations, celebrities, art and fun for the kids.

This year popular celebrity chef Iain ‘Huey’ Hewitson will be one of the celebrity guests at the event. The popular small-good competition the Hamster of Lara will return honoring the memory of local small good master Angel Cardoso and Read Street will be returning with some great music to set the mood for a great day.

There is a huge day planned for the young including a donut eating competition and a huge kids zone with a load of activities including face painting, performances by Dan the magic Man and Bay FM’s Alex the Seal.

The day will once again feature plenty of action in the kitchen with competitions, local chefs showing their skills and some wonderful masterclasses where you can learn some secrets from the experts. This year The Gordon TAFE’s Brendan Hill will be one of the guests showing his incredible pastry skills and there will be classes on kombucha, gin, tea, cheese making and many more interesting subjects.

There will be dozens of food and drink stalls representing the best of our region spread around the grounds, offering a wide range of gourmet foods, great local wines and some of our regions best craft beers.
