Back in 1855 a society was formed to celebrate the best of the region in an annual event, and today more than 160 years later we still celebrate this tradition every October at the Royal Geelong Show. The event started off as a humble agricultural show but today it has grown to become recognised as one of the premier regional shows and fairs in Australia.
The 2019 program is set to follow in the show’s footsteps and become the ‘best ever’ with some amazing family entertainment and fun planned. Spanning four days from Thursday the 17th of October and running through until the Sunday the show brings back all the crowd favorites plus many new events and attractions. New for 2019 are displays by Eljay Freestyle Entertainment, Australia’s no 1 motorcycle and bicycle stunt show and Bubble Muffin a interactive kids cooking program which not only educates kids on cooking but has some great messages on healthy eating.
The Jet Car and crazy vehicles from Monster Truck’s Australia and the world famous racing pigs will return to the show much to the crowd’s delight and whip cracker Stewart Bryant will also return to the arena to show his incredible skills. For animal lovers the Royal Geelong Show is the place for you with huge cattle and sheep pavilions, horses, goats, poultury, dogs and even budgies being displayed, and for those visiting Sunday there will be special Alpaca demonstrations. But rest assured the most popular animal exhibit will be the animal nursery where a huge array of animals with their young will be on display.
Visitors will also be treated to many displays including handcrafts, cooking and the ever popular vintage machinery with diesel and steam engines chugging away in a static display and a spectacular parade on the main arena Friday and Saturday around lunch time.
Sideshow alley is also a must at the show with a huge precinct dedicated to some of the country’s best thrill rides, including ‘The Beast’ a ride not for the faint hearted. There will be dozens of rides, skill games and of course the great show food and showbags.
