After the huge success of Cold Chisel visiting Geelong in February another of Australia’s most iconic bands, Midnight Oil will hit the stage at a Day on the Green at Mt Dunned in March next year.
On the back of their No 1 Aria album the Makarrata Project which collaborates with some of the best First Nations musicians from our country the special show will not only feature music from the album but a huge array of decades of their greatest hits.
Makarrata Live will be the first chance Australian’s have had to see the band live who reformed in 2017 for a World Tour and a year later for a European tour and one off outback Queensland show.
The Makarrata shows come out of a planned Day on the Green show that was cancelled due to the pandemic. This short tour has been planned to elevate the message of the Uluru Statement of the Heart but also a tribute to bassist Bones Hillman who sadly passed recently due to illness.
With the music scene being very quiet over 2020 this show will hopefully be the start of some amazing shows coming to town with special strict protocols being put in place to ensure crowd space and safety from the Covid 19. At writing the Geelong will be the last leg of the tour will be one of only 5 shows announced, and the only show scheduled for Victoria. It is hoped the Oils will tour further later in 2021.
Midnight Oil – Makarrata Live will take place on Saturday the 20th of March 2021. Ticketing begins Monday the 14th of December with some presales available earlier.
