When English rock group The Pretenders wrote the lyric “some things change, some stay the same” they may have had Geelong subconsciously on their mind. While many parts of our fine city have been redeveloped or had a huge makeover, some parts are very much like the Geelong of yesteryear. Below is a series of photos taken from the Intown family photo album compared to our shots of Geelong from today.
We believe the original black and white photos were shot in the 1920’s on a Kodak box brownie camera that we still have in our possession. The 2011 shots were taken on a Sony D-SLR, while the 1997 shot of the waterfront pre Steampacket Place makeover were taken around the time Intown first launched this website on our first Sony digital camera that used floppy disks as storage.
