Stretching from Eastern Park to Johnston Park at the western end, Malop Street has over the last two decades or so, become the retail heart of Geelong city, which has moved downwards from Ryrie – Malop Street area, with the opening of the huge Market Square and Westfield what was then known as Bay City Plaza. Malop Street plays host to many of Geelong’s parades and celebrations including Gala Day, The ANZAC Day march and has been one of the routes for the Geelong Football Club’s premiership parade in 2007, 2009 and 2011.
