The Queen’s Baton passed through Geelong on the 12th of February 2018 on its way to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games that take place in April.
The baton was presented to the Mayor of Geelong Bruce Harwood by former Geelong Cats captain Cameron Ling much to the delight of the large crowd. This is not the first time a baton has visited Geelong, Intown was there in 2006 when it travelled through our city to the Melbourne Games and we were also there in 2000 when the Olympic Flame visited our city on the way to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
