One of the Geelong traditions is Gala Day, it has been running for over 90 years and has brought joy to generations of people from Geelong and surrounds. Gala Day has been a day for the young and young at heart to celebrate and really have fun along the 2km city loop.

2016 Gala Day Parade
Geelong’s Gala Day celebrated 100 years in a blaze of colour down Malop Street on Saturday the 12th of November. For the first time the parade was held in a twilight setting with thousands of families lining the streets to enjoy the spectacular display.
2015 Gala Day
Thousands of families lined the streets of Geelong for the 99th annual Gala Day procession. The parade was held in a twilight time slot for the first time and featured plenty of characters, celebrities and colourful floats.

Gala Day brought a fantastic day of cheer and colour to Geelong. Thousands lined Malop Street to see the huge parade filled with plenty of characters, a few celebrities and some wonderful displays.

The threat of bad weather didn’t deter thousands flocking to central Geelong to enjoy the colour and excitement of the annual Gala Day parade. There were plenty of popular characters including The Lorax, the Madagascar lion, Half Cat and the crowd favourite Doctor Bear
2012 Gala Day Parade
The 2012 Gala Day parade was a colourful and fun celebration marking the 96th year of this wonderful event. Kids loved some of their favorite characters including Elmo, Bananas in Pajamas, Monster Inc’s Sully, Supercat and Half Cat.
