The 2012 March Labour Day weekend put on perfect weather for the annual Chryslers by the Bay show and shine on the magnificent lawns of the Geelong Grammar School in Corio.
While there were plenty of Australian Valiants and Chargers on show, some of our favourite cars came from the USA, where Chrysler was not at all shy about putting huge fins and over the top amounts of shiny chrome on their cars. With many lovingly restored, many of these cars represent a time when the focus was on sheer style and imagination and not the bottom line which dictates the design of so many of today’s modern cars.
There were plenty of special cars on show with many originating from the USA, including a very special Chrysler Imperial as well as several great examples of 70’s Dodges and Plymouths. Our highlight of the show was one very special 1980’s car, a Chrysler limo once owned by Dallas and I Dream of Jennie star, Larry Hagman.
