The Corio Model Railway Club put on an amazing exhibition at the Geelong West Town Hall on the weekend of the 28th and 29th of January.
The exhibition filled the main hall of the venue and all the annexes offering hours of fun for young and old. One of the favourite exhibitions was the Kilmore East exhibition which had incredible detail and featured both modern trains and steam engines. The scenery and vista was amazing and it was easy to see the thousands of hours that must have gone into building and perfecting the display. Another crowd favourite were the several smaller exhibitions which were built in everyday objects, including a great display which ran around the insides of a vintage television and another which was build inside an old brief case.
The ‘Mystic & Oblivion’ exhibition in the centre of the hall was also an amazing sight; this display had a United States theme and depicted some of the small towns and timber industries throughout the USA. There were mines, timber mills and some very detailed townships and communities. Behind this display was the Beaufort Display which was a huge display based on some of the local railways around Ballarat and Ararat and onto the Mallee. Many of the trains carried grain or freight.
Not only was did the exhibition feature amazing models and dioramas it was a huge trade show with many stalls selling everything you would ever need for a model train setup. There was everything to the small box full of track and trains ideal for the young or someone starting off right up to some of the detailed rolling stock, scenery and high tech electronics. Read More
