There was a sporran full of fun to be had at the 2012 Highland Gathering with plenty of bag pipes to be heard for miles around. Other attractions included the Haggis Hurl, wee heavy games, Scotish dog displays as well as plenty of gustie Scottish fare.
The event was opened with a spectacular display of colour and music which included dancers, guards and massive pipe band who paraded up and down the grounds in front of thousands of spectators and special guests including The Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC Governor of Victoria and many members from the Scotish community, Government and our local Council.
Around the showgrounds arena were a wide array of tents selling Scotish specialties including sausages, haggis, shortbreads and some delicious scones plus a plenty of tartan and other memoribilia. There were small stages where dancers performed, a sword fight arena, wood chopping and even a classic car exhibition.
Many of the people we spoke to commented tat the event was the best Highland Gathering in living memory, you will see from our wonderful photo spread and video it was a great day out and we look forward to next years.
