The 2011 Australian International Airshow celebrated the 90th Anniversary of the Royal Australian Air Force, so there was plenty of military aircraft old and new on display from home and abroad. Not only did the show feature a huge array of aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force but many other nations joined in the festivities bringing some of their best including the USA and New Zealand.
Popular aircraft on display were our C-130 Hercules as well as the C-17 Globemaster of both the RAAF and US Air Force, Many people were amazed at the scale of these aircraft with the once in a life time opportunity to walk through many of the large planes.
One of the biggest draw cards to the 2011 airshow were a pair of the USA’s stealthy F-22 Raptors, this was the first time that the Raptor had appeared here in Australia and were heavily guarded when parked on the runway.
Friday night’s night time spectacular once again draw thousands to an incredible display this year a huge laser show complemented the fire, fireworks and bombing raids. A F1-11 did a spectacular fuel dump over the main runway and the beautiful Locheed Constellation affectionalty known as Connie returns to the show and put on a brilliant display.
