The 2009 Australian International Airshow once again put on a spectacular display. Huge crowds flocked to see some of the incredible flying over the three public days, and thousands of international visitors from the aviation, military and aerospace industries visited Avalon earlier in the week to see and experience the latest in aerospace technologies.
Friday was the first day of public access to the airshow and what an amazing evening it was with an incredible night time display which featured the Lockheed Constellation, better known as Connie night take-off with flames coming from her engines and the Royal Australian Air force’s tactical man overs bombing the runway before setting off a wall of flame
As well as a full program of flying the show also had a huge static display where visitors could not only see up close but in many cases touch and get inside some incredible aircraft including several huge military carriers.
Rain and mud didn’t stop thousands turning out on the Saturday morning to see the huge new Qantas A380 Airbus take off from Avalon, this was the first time many people had seen this brand new aircraft and many were stunned at her sheer size as it gracefully lifted into the northern sky.
