The Red Hot Chili Peppers rock Geelong

One of the world’s biggest bands the Red Hot Chili Peppers played to a massive crowd of 20,000 in blistering heat at Mt Duneed Estate’s Day on the Green on the 2nd of March.

After a funky set from George Clinton and his Parliament Funkadelic outfit the Chili Peppers hit the stage with a greatest hits package with songs spanning their 35 years playing hits including Around the World, Californication, Under the Bridge and Suck My Kiss.

One highlight of the show was an encore by Josh and Chad of the Divinyls hit I touch my self, a fitting song to be playing in Chrissie Amphlett’s home town of Geelong.

The night ended with their monster hit Give it Away from their 1991 twelve million selling album Blood Sugar Sex Magik. The sun burnt hot exhausted crowd found new energy as Flea’s opening base lineskicked in and spectacular light and video show reflected through the hot rising dust from the dry paddock making for an amazing conclusion to another fantastic Day on the Green.
