The 2003 Pako Festa was bigger and brighter than ever with an amazing fun filled day celebrating everything multicultural. Tens of thousands of visitors came to West Geelong’s favourite street party for wonderful day of great food, dance, music and plenty of family fun. The event kicked off with the huge parade down Pakington Street in a vibrant display of sound and colour thrilling onlookers young and old.
After a moving ceremony from the traditional land owners of our region, the Wathurung People and a few words from some VIP’s the day including the Premier Steve Bracks. Afterwards the precinct was transformed into a huge festival with a delicious array of international food stalls lining Pakington Street, filled with some of the tastiest cuisine, the aromas were amazing. Many multicultural groups also performed traditional dance and music on stages along the Pakington Street Strip or in the parklands adjacent.
