Celebrated on the last Saturday of February, the 2004 Pako Festa saw an amazing day of multicultural fun along Pakington Street in West Geelong. This year saw a huge array of community groups spanning the four corners of the earth join the colourful parade which also featured a few celebrities including television star John Woods and a few favourites from Home and Away.
The parade made way for an opening ceremony in West Park where the traditional land holders the Wathaurong People welcomed a huge crowd and VIP’s including members of council and the state government.
The ceremonies made way for an afternoon of music and dance and a chance to try some of the magnificent cuisine from the dozens of international food tents ran by local community groups which were set up along the closed off Pakington Street.
