On the 24th of February 2024, Pako Festa marked its annual celebration of multiculturalism along the vibrant Pakington Street in West Geelong. The event was a testament to the rich tapestry of cultures that call Geelong home. The day kicked off with an exhilarating parade, showcasing a plethora of community groups representing various corners of the globe.
Following the parade, the community gathered in West Park for a poignant opening ceremony. Here, the traditional landholders, the Wathaurong People, extended a warm welcome to the gathered crowd and distinguished guests, including members of the local council and state government.
As the ceremonies concluded, the afternoon unfolded into a lively celebration of music, dance, and culinary delights. Along the closed-off stretch of Pakington Street, dozens of international food tents, lovingly manned by local community groups, offered a tantalising array of dishes from around the world. Attendees had the opportunity to savour the flavours of different cultures while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Pako Festa.
