Pakington Street was once again transformed into a sea of colour, culture and celebration as Pako Festa returned on Saturday 28 February 2026. Stretching through the heart of West Geelong, the much-loved festival brought together thousands of locals and visitors to celebrate the rich multicultural spirit that defines the region.

Recognised as one of Victoria’s largest free multicultural street festivals, Pako Festa once again delivered a full day of vibrant performances, community pride and incredible food from around the globe.

The day began with the iconic parade along Pakington Street, where community groups proudly marched in traditional dress, accompanied by music, dance and high-energy performances. Bright costumes, rhythmic drumming and smiling faces filled the street, creating a spectacle that drew enthusiastic crowds several rows deep.

Each group brought its own heritage to life, showcasing the diversity that makes Geelong such a dynamic and welcoming city.

At nearby West Park, the main stage hosted a full program of entertainment throughout the day. Cultural dance troupes, live bands and special performances kept the energy high, while the official proceedings reflected on the importance of inclusion, respect and community connection.

Families gathered on the grass, children waved flags representing their heritage, and friends reunited in the festive atmosphere that Pako Festa is famous for.

Beyond the performances, the aroma of international cuisine filled the air. Community-run food stalls lined the street, serving authentic dishes from across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. From sweet treats to savoury favourites, there was no shortage of options for those eager to taste something new — or enjoy a beloved traditional dish.

Market stalls, cultural displays and interactive activities added even more to explore, ensuring there was something happening at every turn.

More than just a festival, Pako Festa remains a powerful celebration of identity and unity. It’s a day where cultures are shared, stories are told and the broader community comes together in appreciation of the diversity that strengthens Geelong year after year.
